How to enter

Five minutes, once. No app to install: it works in Safari or Chrome on any phone.

Open the club's boardUse the link the club shares (or search the club on liveleaderboard.co.uk) and tap the Knockouts tab. While entries are open you'll see the competition, the entry fee, the closing date and who's in so far.
Fill in the formYour name, your current handicap index, your email and your CDH number. For pairs, add your partner's details too. One entry per person: the CDH number is what tells two members with the same name apart.
Read and tick the termsThe terms of entry sit right above the tick box and are written from the competition's own settings: the fee, the deadlines, how matches are arranged, no-shows, handicaps and how disputes are settled. What you accept is kept with your entry.
Pay, if there's a feeCard payment by Stripe, done in a few seconds. You get a confirmation email once it's through. Free competitions confirm straight away.
Pairs: your partner confirmsYour partner gets an email with a confirm button. The pair goes into the draw once they've tapped it, so nobody is entered without knowing.

After the draw

The organiser draws the bracket, random or seeded from the qualifying order, and publishes it. Everyone gets an email with their first opponent, the round deadline, a personal link that signs you in as you, and the knockout code for signing in on another phone.

Your personal link

The draw email has a button that opens the board signed in as you. Only your own ties get the buttons for everything below, and every action is recorded in your name. Keep the link to yourself.

Offer dates

Pick up to five dates you can play, morning, afternoon or evening. Dates you both offer light up; your opponent taps one and the match is fixed.

Or propose a time

Name a date and tee time; your opponent confirms, or says they can't make it and why. Messages go through the board too.

Changing an agreed date

An agreed fixture stands until the other player accepts a change. Requests close to tee time are marked late, and the original date can be kept.

Deadlines you can see

Each round shows "play by" with a countdown. Reminders are emailed when a date isn't fixed and the deadline is near.

Everything on record

Every offer, reply, message, change and result is written to the tie's history with who did it and when. Both players and the committee can open it.

On the day

Two taps before the first tee, then play.

Handicaps for the day

Enter your current index; the course handicap fills in from the tee ratings and the shots for the match are shown. Both players confirm, and the shots are fixed. Change a number and the other player is asked to confirm again.

Coin toss

Toss for the honour from the tie card. It's decided on the server, once, and recorded.

Score it live, if you like

"Play live" puts the match on the board's Match Play tab. Score hole by hole on one phone; the bracket updates as you go and the result lands on its own when you finish.

Or just record the result

Winner, margin (3&2, 1 up, 19th hole), date played. The winner drops straight into the next round and both players are emailed.

Why it's better

No more chasing

Dates are offered and accepted on the board, with email nudges, so "I never heard from him" has an answer.

Fair, and seen to be fair

Draws made by the software, shots from confirmed handicaps, no-shows reported on the record, and the committee sees the same history you do.

The bracket, all season

Live matches, this week's fixtures and the latest results at the top of the page, a full fixtures list and a standings table, on your phone or the clubhouse screen.

Questions members ask

Where do I find my CDH number?

It's on your England Golf / WHS record: in the England Golf app, on your handicap certificate, or from the club office. It's usually 10 digits.

Can I enter twice, or in two pairs?

No. One entry per person in each knockout. The form checks your CDH number, email and name and will tell you if you're already in, and with whom.

My partner entered us and I didn't know.

You'll have an email with a confirm button. Tap "Yes, confirm our pair" to go into the draw, or "Not playing with them" and the entry is withdrawn.

How do I sign in, and can someone sign in as me?

Tap the personal link in your draw email: it signs you in as you, on that phone, and only your own ties get the buttons. On another phone, or if you lose the link, tap Sign in on the board, enter the four-digit knockout code, pick your name and give the last four digits of the CDH number you entered with. Nobody can act on your tie without that, and every action carries the name it was done under. Lost the link? "Send it again" on the sign-in screen emails it to the address on your entry.

My opponent isn't replying. What do I do?

Offer dates on the board and send a message there, so it's on the record. If nothing comes back before the deadline, the organiser sees the history and can award a walkover.

We agreed a date and now I can't make it.

Tap "Request a change" on the tie. The original date stands until your opponent accepts the new one. A request inside the notice window is marked late, and your opponent may keep the original date.

My opponent didn't turn up.

Once the agreed tee time has passed, tap "No-show" on the tie. It goes on the record and to the organiser, who can award the walkover.

My handicap has changed since I entered.

That's expected. Before you tee off, both of you enter your current index on the tie; the shots come from those confirmed numbers, not the entry list.

How do I record a result?

Tap "Result" on the tie, choose the winner and the margin, and save. Or score it live and it records itself.

There's a disagreement. Who decides?

The competitions committee, using the tie's history: every date, message, handicap confirmation and score with its time. You can open the same history from the tie.
